POST RKHS: What have you been doing since your days at RKHS...and what are you doing now?
After graduating from King, I attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where I majored in Government with a concentration in International Relations. In between late night study sessions, hockey games, and nights on the town, I spent a semester in Washington D.C. working on Capitol Hill. After graduating from Cornell in 1993, the economy was sputtering and so I returned to Wisconsin and got my law degree and a Masters in Policy Analysis at UW-Madison. From there, I embarked on a successful 8 year career as a litigation attorney first in Boston and later in San Francisco. I left the legal profession in 2005 to spend more time with my kids (Sydney (now 7 and Daniel (now 4) -- more photos at www.gerlachfamily.net), learn to play guitar, run marathons, and generally catch up on a lot of things I had neglected while practicing law. During my "hiatus" I helped my wife Alison launch a chocolate company called Allie's Edibles (www.alliesedibles.com) which is approaching its 5 year anniversary. A year and a half ago, I settled in Encinitas, CA (just north of San Diego) with my family where I am working in financial services as a member of the senior management team for or a large investment fund called Sunrise Capital Partners. In my free time I play around on the piano and guitar, participate in triathlons, lead my daughter's Daisy Scout Troop and coach my son in soccer, t-ball, basketball, and other sports. Drop me a line if you're ever coming down to Southern California.
Where did you attend college, grad school, etc. (if applicable)?
Cornell University (B.A. 1993), University of Wisconsin (M.A./J.D. 1996)
Where are you currently based? (City & State)
Encinitas, CA
What is your current profession or career field?
Financial Services
What is your highest level of education "COMPLETED?"
I am wondering if I can keep with it all :) face book Rufus King nation. It was neat to find names on here I had not heard in years. What are you guys doing for your 20th reunion? I missed ours last summer as I was 8 months pregnant and they do not like us to travel at that stage...you know just in case!
I recall you, Jason, but I did need the photo to be sure! It was a great experience teaching in the old shop which I actually converted into a theater with curtain, lighting system--the works a year or two after you graduated.
Wonderful years at King. I had fantastic students, like you, for 25 years!

Hey Jason! Just had to comment - Thanks for your incredibly generous offer to host a reunion event at your parents' house. Maybe something will work out. Also, I'm glad you mentioned your wife's chocolate company. Yum - CHOCOLATE!!! Perfect timing. I'll be placing an order for the holidays. Great family pics. Take care & God bless you & your family.
Thanks for the shout out. I was hanging out with Nancy Torphy the other day and we walked down memory lane for a spell. It sounds like you and the family are doing well. I look forward to hearing about the 1989 reunion next year. Great pics!
What is up Jason. That is too funny that you remember that. I remember him giving the same speach for Maura Donahue the next year. It is good to see you are doing well. Great pictures of the kids. Is that you doing a triathalon? Way to go.
JG! How have things been! Encinitas!!?? Get out of here! I lived in Vista for 10 years! My party spots were the Crazy Burro (after golfing at La Costa Resort) and ALL the clubs in Carlsbad!! I am very familiar with Encinitas! I see you're doing well! Take care & call me!!
