POST RKHS: What have you been doing since your days at RKHS...and what are you doing now?

After graduating from King, I attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where I majored in Government with a concentration in International Relations. In between late night study sessions, hockey games, and nights on the town, I spent a semester in Washington D.C. working on Capitol Hill. After graduating from Cornell in 1993, the economy was sputtering and so I returned to Wisconsin and got my law degree and a Masters in Policy Analysis at UW-Madison. From there, I embarked on a successful 8 year career as a litigation attorney first in Boston and later in San Francisco. I left the legal profession in 2005 to spend more time with my kids (Sydney (now 7 and Daniel (now 4) -- more photos at www.gerlachfamily.net), learn to play guitar, run marathons, and generally catch up on a lot of things I had neglected while practicing law. During my "hiatus" I helped my wife Alison launch a chocolate company called Allie's Edibles (www.alliesedibles.com) which is approaching its 5 year anniversary. A year and a half ago, I settled in Encinitas, CA (just north of San Diego) with my family where I am working in financial services as a member of the senior management team for or a large investment fund called Sunrise Capital Partners. In my free time I play around on the piano and guitar, participate in triathlons, lead my daughter's Daisy Scout Troop and coach my son in soccer, t-ball, basketball, and other sports.
